RISW Strawberry Afternoon Tea /  Te prynhawn mefys yr haf
The Royal Institution of South Wales
Friends of Swansea Museum

It was a glorious summer afternoon just right for our Strawberry Tea. We had quite a good roomful of people in the Museum and a very friendly atmosphere. However numbers were down from last year and we did not have so many donations so the proceeds for RISW funds were £296. Bishopston Comprehensive School provided excellent entertainment once again and were led by their new Head of Music Andrew Millard. They sang a wide range of songs including Eli Jenkins Prayer and finished with a lively saxophone solo Summertime from Porgy and Bess. They are very talented youngsters. The quiz proved to be quite a challenge with only one table completing it and the refreshments including strawberries and cream were plentiful and greatly enjoyed. We are very grateful for the donations to the raffle which included a bottle of whisky, a large bottle of prosecco, beautiful flowers as well as toiletries and biscuits. The Social Committee, which now has three new members, worked very hard to give everyone a very enjoyable afternoon.

Once again the Museum staff were very supportive in preparing the room for us despite time restrictions because of the previous bookings and also came to our rescue when the boiler packed up! We greatly appreciate their cheerful helpfulness.
