Programme for 2018-2019

Since its foundation in 1835 the Royal Institution of South Wales has been dedicated to the ‘cultivation and advancement’ of knowledge. Each year it arranges talks, open to members and the public alike, with this aim in mind.

This year's programme is as varied as ever. ‘Swansea and the world’ is our scope. Our themes cover history, art, society, science and technology, in the past, present and future. Our speakers are always expert and often well-known. The discussions are lively and thought provoking. To see some of the highlights from last year's programme, click the Event Archive tab below.

Click each event for more information. We hold all our events in Swansea Museum unless noted otherwise. If you have a question, please contact our events organiser at

Due to the popularity of our lectures at Swansea Museum - please collect a free ticket either from Swansea Museum or reserve one over the phone (01792 653763). The venue has a limited amount of seating based on fire safety regulations and cannot exceed this number. Please respect the museum staff and understand it is for your own safety.
